Autumn in Kyoto 「錦秋の京都」

11月に入り紅葉の季節を迎える京都において、Autumn in Kyoto 「錦秋の京都」と題した写真展を開催。この数年間撮り溜めた京都の紅葉シーンの中から、神社仏閣や庭園の造形美、散歩道で見かける賀茂川（鴨川）沿いの自然美、そして植物園の花々や木々が共演する色彩美を織り交ぜ、約20点を展示する。

紅葉の始まりの青もみじと黄葉のコントラスト、見頃を迎えた艶やかな朱、そして晩秋に地面を覆う散り紅葉の赤紫。いずれの光景も一期一会。それぞれに趣があり、日々変わりゆく秋色の美に魅せられシャッターを切る。今回は数点、伝統的な染め和紙を表装に用い写真との共演も試みている。この秋、パパジョーンズのカフェ・ギャラリーで、憩いのひと時と写真を通した京都の錦秋をお楽しみください。

The exhibition, “Autumn in Kyoto,” is set to take place in Kyoto during the captivating autumn
foliage season of November. It will showcase about 20 photographs, captured over several
years, that depict the enchanting autumnal scenes of Kyoto. These images highlight the
architectural elegance of shrines, temples, and gardens, the serene beauty of the Kamo River,
and the vibrant displays of nature at the Kyoto Botanical Gardens.

“As I witness the initial contrast of green and yellow maple leaves at the onset of autumn,
followed by the lustrous vermilion hues at their peak, and ultimately the reddish-purple blanket of fallen leaves in late autumn, I become deeply impressed by the distinct charm and phases of the season’s beauty.In this exhibition, I’ve also chosen to mount some photos on washi,
traditionally dyed Japanese paper as an artistic representation of autumn. I invite you to visit
Papa John’s Cafe Gallery this fall. Immerse yourself in a moment of tranquility,enveloped by the splendor of Kyoto’s autumn season.”

補足情報	主催者　塩見佳代子 ■略歴岡山出身。1995年より京都在住。長年、立命館大学で教授として英語教育に従事する傍ら、TEDxKyotoキュレーションチームのメンバーおよびTED Talks翻訳・校正のボランティアとして活動している。数年前から賀茂川（鴨川）を散歩しながら、四季折々に目にする花や自然の景色を写真に収め始める。今まで撮影してきた写真をもとに、初の個展をSpring in Kyoto「京都の春」と題して2023年３月にパパジョンズカフェギャラリー六角店で開催。また、椿の花手水写真がKyoto Journal- Flora & Kyoto104(p3)に掲載された。その後、2023年9月にAMS企画第31回「花鳥風月」展に参加し、11月には同企画「光と影」展に出展。写真は、iPhoneを中心に撮影することが多いが、近年では一眼レフカメラでの撮影にも取り組み始めた。今後も写真撮影を楽しみながら変わりゆく自然の美しさを謳歌し、日々研鑽を重ねていきたい。 Kayoko Shiomi captures images of flowers and natural scenery as she explores the Kamo River and various gardens in Kyoto. She presented her first solo exhibition, titled “Spring in Kyoto,” at Papa John’s Cafe Gallery Rokkaku in March 2023. Her photograph featuring camellia flowers earned a spot in “Kyoto Journal #104: Flora & Kyoto” on page 3. In September 2023, Kayoko showcased her work at the 31st annual AMS Photo Studio exhibition, “Kacho Fugetsu: The Beauty of Nature,” and subsequently at the “Light and Shadow” exhibition in November. Predominantly, Kayoko uses her iPhone for photography, but she recently started experimenting with an SLR camera. She aspires to delve deeper into the world of photography, continually cherishing the evolving beauty of nature. Born in Okayama, Kayoko has made Kyoto her home since 1995. She is a professor of English as Foreign Language at Ritsumeikan University. She is also an active volunteer of the TEDxKyoto curation team, as well as a translator and proofreader for TED Talks.
